A verified gallon is a gallon of stormwater that field instrumentation shows moved from surface storage into the soil profile, confirmed through independent review of the monitoring data. It is a measured quantity, not an estimate or a model output.
Does verified infiltration mean the water reached an aquifer?
No, and we are deliberate about the distinction. Verified infiltration measures water moving from the surface into the soil profile. Where site conditions support deeper movement, that infiltration can contribute to groundwater recharge. The creditable unit begins with the measured, verified gallon infiltrated, not with a claim about where the water ultimately travels.
How does HydroCoin relate to the monitoring data?
