Plum Brook Golf Course, which was built in 1927, had three areas that would never drain properly and were constantly saturated with standing water for several months of the year and could not even run a lawn mower on it. After the installation of the EGRP™ system, the owners of the golf course were amazed that a historically unusable part of the golf course was now dry and able to be used. The environmental benefits are an added bonus for communities and golf facilities alike. It’s been 5 years since the EGRP™ were installed and they are pleased with the results.
Lawrence Technological University is leading a collaboration of industry partners in the development and implementation of innovative drainage solutions for polluted parking lot stormwater runoff. This collaboration utilized an integrated solution application consisting of porous pavement, underground storage, and the EGRP™. Through constant monitoring, this installation found that the groundwater levels increased more quickly after rain events and stabilized more quickly. This means that rain water was effectively captured and infiltrated into the ground rather than becoming runoff, thereby reducing the spread of pollutants to surrounding surface water or into the sewage treatment facilities.
A major US-based tech company responsible for campus stormwater management identified an area with potential for conversion to a park for use by employees and visitors, but needed a stormwater solution for the target area. The company engaged Parjana℠ to design and implement an environmentally sustainable solution for managing stormwater at the site. Using detailed hydrologic and geographic information, Parjana℠ designed and installed a cost-effective EGRP™-based solution to infiltrate stormwater directly into the groundwater subsystem, enriching the soil and reducing irrigation needs. The company reconfirmed its commitment to the health and happiness of its employees while underscoring its commitment to environmental sustainability for future generations.
St. Hugo baseball field experienced chronic flooding. Practice and games were frequently cancelled, frustrating the players and coaches. Often, even if they didn’t cancel play, the diamond was in bad shape, covered with puddles and mud, and coaches would sweep the field to push away the standing water. Since EGRP™ installation in April 2012, no water has accumulated after heavy rains. Even after a two inch rain storm in 2013, the field was dry within 12 hours.
